Polk County Fire Rescue provides fire suppression, emergency medical services and fire inspections to Polk's residents and visitors. Coordination among county and municipal agencies is governed by a series of interlocal agreements help provide the highest level of service.
In addition to covering all of unincorporated Polk, this division also provides fire services for Eagle Lake, Polk City, Mulberry, Lake Hamilton, and Hillcrest Heights.
As one of the largest departments in the state, Polk Fire’s network of 44 fire and rescue stations respond to about 75,000 calls each year. It has more than 150 vehicles and apparatus and employs nearly 600 full time personnel. Polk Fire also was recently ranked the 39th largest fire department in the United States.
