notified at approximately 12:30 PM on March 16, 2017.
the incident or discovery: Lift Station #112; 52 Environmental Loop,
Winter Haven, FL 33880
Suspected source and cause of incident or discovery: A call was
received from staff at the Polk County North Central Landfill, regarding an
overflow from two manholes located near Lift Station #112 on Polk County
property. The overflow was the result of a failure to restore the lift station
to normal operating conditions following routine maintenance earlier in the
pollution, including substance or contaminant name(s): Domestic
Amount of pollution, including substance or contaminant name(s): Approximately
425 gallons of domestic wastewater overflowed from two manholes, across
concrete and into a dry storm water ditch.
Medium (e.g. land, water, air) affected by pollution: Land
Potentially affected areas beyond installation property boundary: The
entire amount was confined to the stormwater ditch on Polk County property and
did not impact adjacent properties.
Potential risk to the public health, safety, or welfare: There is no
anticipated potential risk to the public health, safety or welfare. There were
no flows to surface water or observed contact with groundwater.

information that may be helpful: Upon investigation, the lift station
was returned to normal operating conditions, ceasing the overflow at 12:36
PM. Clean-up action was immediately initiated and completed at 2:30 PM.
The affected areas were treated with lime disinfectant and washed down.
The entire amount was recovered from the ditch and properly disposed in
accordance with regulatory requirements.
