Water Policy and Conservation

Water is a critical issue in Florida.  We need to:

  • appreciate the importance of water conservation
  • protect our water quality, and
  • ensure future water supplies

The Water Policy Team, which includes a water policy manager and water conservation coordinator, works to address the increasingly complex and challenging water issues facing Polk County.

The Water Policy and Conservation program monitors regional, state and federal regulatory efforts. The program also monitors activities in adjacent counties, which may impact Polk County’s water resources and supply.

In addition, the Water Policy Manager acts as staff to a Board appointed, volunteer Water Policy Advisory Committee. This committee works to develop and help implement short and long-term strategies to protect and ensure available water resources and supply for Polk County, now and in the future.

Many challenges lie ahead in the water arena, and Polk County will meet them head on.

PRESERVE AND CONSERVE – PROTECT OUR WATER RESOURCES!!!!
