Public Input Results for Planned Developments

Planned Developments (PD) are a process in which land developers or property owners can obtain a higher density or flexibility in design standards on a piece of property.  These require a public hearing before the Planning Commission and have a certain set of criteria in the Land Development Code (LDC).  Recently, the Board of County Commissioners directed the Growth Management Department to revise these LDC standards.

In order to tackle this task in the most effective manner, staff held a series of meetings to obtain as much public input as possible.  These tables and graphs summarize the results of the three meetings held in Bartow, Davenport and Lakeland by the Growth Management Department. The purpose of these meetings was to obtain citizen input on minimum criteria to be established for Planned Developments for urban areas in Polk County. In all, a total of seventy six (76) residents attended the meetings.

The Polk County Land Development Division will host a public meeting to solicit comments on proposed amendments to the Land Development Code for Landscaping Requirements. 

The scheduled public meeting will not include the review of a specific draft amendment. Rather, the purpose of this meeting is to solicit comments on some landscape measures under consideration.  Staff will use these comments to help draft proposed revisions to the Polk County Land Development Code.  We hope you can join us for this meeting.
