The Polk County Historical and Genealogical Library is located in the east wing of the Historic Courthouse. It was first opened to the public in January of 1940. The library is under the authority of the BOCC and administered by the Community Services Department and the Parks and Recreation Division. This is a secure research facility. You will be asked to sign a guest register and place certain specified items in a locker before you enter the facility. Entrance and exit from the library are through locked gates which are controlled at the front desk by a staff member. In the event of a fire, these gates will open automatically.
