The Polk County Historical Museum opened its doors on September 19, 1998, in the old Polk County Courthouse, located in downtown Bartow. The Museum serves the Polk County community through special events, volunteer opportunities, and educational programs.
Museum exhibits and programs continue to grow and change as new information and artifacts become available.
Admission to the museum is free to the public.

Days and Hours of Operation
The Museum is open Tuesday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. We are closed Sundays, Mondays and all major holidays.
Please call our office at 863-534-4386 if you have any questions regarding operating hours.
In 2008 the museum will also be CLOSED on the additional days listed below:
- Tuesday, January 1st - New Years Day Observance
- Tuesday, January 22nd - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Observance
- Tuesday, May 27th - Memorial Day Observance
- Friday, July 4th - Independence Day
- Tuesday, Sept 2nd - Labor Day Observance
- Tuesday, November 11th - Veteran's Day Observance
- Thursday & Friday, November 27th & 28th - Thanksgiving
- Thursday & Friday, December 25th & 26th - Christmas Holidays
