Leisure Services Division
Quick Notes

Leisure Services operates and maintains 32 park sites and 11 mini-parks, which include athletic facilities, picnic areas, a historical-oriented park, and three campgrounds. The division also maintains 40 boat launching sites, produces special events, and conducts a summer program. There is a nominal fee for campsites and reserved facilities. Advance reservations are accepted for picnic pavilions and athletic fields only. Leisure Services is comprised of three of the following sections:

Administration
Administration works with cities to formulate grants and agreements between the County and cities for park development and improvements. This section plans for future expansion of the County park system and directs the operation of Division units.
Parks Maintence Unit
Parks Maintence is responsible for the building, maintenance, and repair of all Polk County Parks, which includes facility cleaning, repairing, and painting of buildings, mowing, removing trash and debris, and upkeeping athletic fields.
Recreation Unit
The Recreation Unit plans, develops, and conducts recreation programming and special events. It offers certification training courses to coaches and provides athletic fields for league play. An eight-week summer recreation program is offered at selected school sites for children who have completed Kindergarten through 12 years of age. The program is limited to 60 children per site and consists of arts and crafts, sports, special events, age-related activities, movies, swimming, and field trips. Contact the Recreation Unit at 863-534-4340 for more information.
