The District 10 Medical Examiner's duties and responsibilities include the complete medical-legal death investigation at all times and all places within the District (Polk, Highlands, and Hardee Counties). This goal is accomplished by investigating the cause, manner, circumstances, and mechanism of violent and unexpected death, including those related to public health hazards. Credible, objective, and scientifically-sound medical/legal testimony is provided to the judicial system. Education and training of other professionals and paraprofessionals are provided as part of the services of this office.
