| Mission Statement |
| The mission of the Water Resources Section of the Natural Resources Division is to collect and analyze surface water samples, educate the citizens about the quality and value of our water resources, implement the federally mandated National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program, manage and monitor the effects of stormwater runoff, and protect Polk County's lakes and streams for the benefit of Polk County citizens. |

| Overview |
The Water Resources Section consists of two programs: the Stormwater Quality Program that implements the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program and the Surface Water Monitoring Program comprised of the lab and field personnel. The programs implemented by the Water Resources Section are mandated by federal or state regulations, County ordinances, the County Comprehensive Plan, or as directed by the Board of County Commissioners. |
