INTRODUCTION
Polk County, a political subdivision of the State of Florida, requests information from qualified contractors/vendors experienced in providing demolition services. A pre-qualification form must be on file with the Purchasing Division (Contracts Section) in order for contractors/vendors to quote on the demolition projects. Once qualified, a contractor/vendor is entitled to respond to a request for demolition quotation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Contractor/vendor must have a license or State Certification in one of the categories listed below. Licenses must be licensed through the Polk County Building Division Licensing Section. State Certificates must be registered at the Polk County Building Division Licensing Section.
Class A – General – Contractor/vendor is unlimited in the size or type of structure they may construct or demolish
Class B – Building – Contractor/vendor is limited to the construction or demolition of residential or commercial structures, up to three (3) stories.
Class C – Residential – Contractor/vendor is limited to the construction or demolition of residential structures only, up to two (2) habitable stories.
Demolition – This is a Polk County specialty license for demolition only. Contractor/vendor is unlimited as to the type or size of structure they may demolish. However, contractor/vendor is prohibited from the use of explosives.
EVALUATION
The County reserves the right to determine, at its sole discretion, whether the statement of qualifications satisfactorily meets the criteria established in the pre-qualification questionnaire; and the right to seek clarification from any firm (s) submitting qualifications. Only those judged to be qualified will receive notification of demolition projects.
INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
The County's insurance requirements are described in the pre-qualification package.
PURCHASE ORDER
A purchase order will be issued for the demolition projects.
RENEWAL OF APPLICATION
Automatic renewal will be made for contractors/vendors that have a current listing in the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) and specialty demolition license with the Polk County Building Division. It is the contractors/vendors responsibility to provide the Purchasing Division updated contact information and any changes in licenses.

DISCLAIMER
Qualifying does not guarantee that any contractor/vendor will be awarded a project. Each qualified contractor/vendor will be given an opportunity to quote demolition projects in accordance with the Polk County Procurement Ordinance and the Purchasing Procedures Manual.

CODE OF ETHICS
If any contractor/vendor violates or is a party to a violation of the code of ethics of Polk County or the State of Florida, with respect to the construction/demolition projects, such contractor may be disqualified from performing the work or furnishing the goods and/or services for which this document is submitted and shall be further disqualified from bidding on any future proposals for work, goods or services for Polk County. |
