This division is responsible for controlling the risk exposures of the county and elected officials. This includes workers' compensation, general liability, automobile, fire, theft, and health and life insurance for employees of the county and elected officials. Risk Management is also responsible for employee safety, health, and wellness issues. |
Group Benefits
The Polk County Health Plan is self-insured and Risk Management is committed to securing and managing a competitive insurance and benefits program in order to control risk and losses. The Employee/Retiree Benefits section of Risk Management provides administrative services to accommodate the needs of all Board of County Commissioners active employees and all County retirees, and/or their covered dependents, in connection with Medical & Prescription Drug, Dental, Vision, Flex, Basic & Supplemental Employee Life/Dependent Life and Long Term Disability insurance. Continuation of coverage through COBRA is also the responsibility of this section. The Benefits Booklet containing plan descriptions, current premium, and carrier information may be downloaded from this site. All Enrollment/Claim Forms are accessible via the Employee Portal. Employee Health Services (Occupational Health Wellness)
The Occupational Health & Wellness Center is the main site for the administration of the Polk County Board of County Commissioners' Drug Free Workplace Program, pre-placement exams, Workers' Compensation injury care, infection control, and employee health and wellness programs. You can register online for some of the upcoming classes offered in the wellness programs. All medical records and information are held in strictest confidence. General Liability
The General Liability section manages claims for automobile accidents involving County vehicles, including personal injury and property damage exposures. It also manages general liability claims presented against the Board of County Commissioners and the Constitutional Offices. For more information, call April Wilson at 534-5272 or 534-5282.
Safety
This section is dedicated to the prevention of accidents and injuries involving Polk County employees both on and off duty. Provide supervisors with the tools and guidance needed to protect employees intrusted to them from harm. Workers' Compensation
The Workers' Compensation section manages workers' compensation injury claims as well as the coordination of managed medical care for all injured employees of the Polk County Board of County Commissioners and the Constitutional Offices.
