The Tourism Division (also known as the Central Florida Visitors and Convention Bureau) works to increase the number of overnight visitors in Polk County (to generate significant economic impact). Increased room night sales result in greater room-tax revenues and more employment and business opportunities, which significantly impact economic growth. Tourism reports to the Director of Tourism and Economic Development and is under the guidance of the Board-appointed Polk County Tourist Development Council. This group consists of representatives from government, the accommodations industry, and tourism-related non-accommodations sector, and is charged with promoting Polk County as a tourist destination for travelers from around the world.
