The Polk HealthCare Plan is a Nationally Recognized Program by the International City and County Management Association (ICMA) in Washington D.C. Polk County was awarded the 2006 Community Health and Safety Program Excellence Award for the Polk HealthCare Plan which is said to be "Creative, effective, and innovative."
The ICMA Program Excellence Awards are presented to local governments and their chief administrators in recognition of their innovative and successful programs that improve the community's safety, health, and/or wellness - including those that enhance the quality of life for the disadvantaged.
