What is a Joint Planning Area (JPA)?

A Joint Planning Area (JPA) is an agreement between two jurisdictions on how a specific area will grow and how the review of the growth will be conducted.  Each JPA includes a map of the area to which the JPA will apply as well as the terms of the agreement as provided for in Section 163.3171 Florida Statutes.
