School Programs

The guided tour at the Polk County Historical Museum complements the 4th grade social studies curriculum, but is easily adaptable to other grade levels. The tour lasts approximately one hour and is designed to serve no more than two classes at one time. The program consists of the following:

  • Short Lecture
  • Video Presentation
  • Student Oriented Activity (students extract & present information to each other)

Polk Heritage Classroom

The Heritage Classroom DVD project allows students to become better aware of their
surroundings within the context of their studies at school. Students ask the questions,
and informed citizens of Polk, engaged in preserving our past, provide the answers.

The DVD consists of three episodes between 12 to 15 minutes each. Episodes include The
Seminole People, Polk Cattle Industry, and Polk County Railroads.

How to Plan a Visit

Reservations are scheduled on a first-come first-served basis. Programs are available Tuesday – Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Please download, fill out, and mail or fax the Download PDF Group Study Application.

  1. Fill out the Download PDF Group Study Application.

  2. Indicate on the application your choice for weekday, date and time you would like to visit.

    Please also include an additional date and time in case your initial date has already been reserved.
