| The property was jointly purchased by Polk County and the South Florida Water Management District in 1999. Polk County is the lead manager. During the rainy season, expect very wet conditions. Yellow flies can be a problem during the summer months. Much of the land is open with little shade. Significant cultural resources include remnants of the early 1900 sawmill town of SUMICA. |

| Wet flatwoods, marshes, cypress domes, oak hammocks, wet prairie, and riverine floodplain. Wildlife that may be observed include: bald eagles, deer, turkey, bobcats, gopher tortoises, and wading birds. |
