  • Polk's PODs to close on Sunday

    With electrical power restored to almost all of Polk County, Points of Distribution (POD) for water and MREs will close at the end of the day, or when their supplies run out, on Sunday, September 17.

    All of the precautionary notices for Polk County Utilities customers have been cancelled. Water is safe to drink and use for cooking.

  • Polk's Disaster Volunteer Center closes today

    Polk’s Disaster Volunteer Reception Center located at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex will close at 4 p.m. today (Saturday).

    Individuals looking to volunteer to assist with disaster recovery may register with Volunteer Polk’s Virtual Volunteer Reception Center at www./polk-county.net/volunteerpolk or call (863) 370-9383.  The Center can also be emailed at VolunteerPolk@polk-county.net.


  • Debris removal underway in Polk County

    Polk County’s clean-up effort is underway, as trucks continue to be certified to meet FEMA guidelines. Once certified, they are moving into the county to collect debris from Hurricane Irma. Collection began in Fort Meade on Friday, and could begin in Frostproof tomorrow.
