  • Polk's Disaster Volunteer Center closes today

    Polk’s Disaster Volunteer Reception Center located at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex will close at 4 p.m. today (Saturday).

  • Debris removal underway in Polk County

    Polk County’s clean-up effort is underway, as trucks continue to be certified to meet FEMA guidelines. Once certified, they are moving into the county to collect debris from Hurricane Irma. Collection began in Fort Meade on Friday, and could begin in Frostproof tomorrow.

  • PODs changing weekend operating hours

    Bartow, Fla. (September 15, 2017) — Due to staffing challenges, the Points of Distribution (PODs) throughout the county will operate on varied schedules Saturday and Sunday.

    Residents in need of water and food are able to get two cases of water and one case of Meal, Ready-to-Eat, commonly known as MRE, per visit. The MRE is a water-activated self-contained complete meal.

  • POD In Lake Wales Opens Today

    A Point of Distribution (POD) will open in Lake Wales from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at 1750 Longleaf Blvd. in Lake Wales. Starting tomorrow, it will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
