When: October 27, 2025
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Polk Delegation will be hearing the presentation of two (2) local bills only.
Their summaries are:
– Inmate Health Care: The proposed local bill sets the compensation of health care providers who provide medical services housed in a Polk County detention center at the same rate those providers are paid for medical services provided to inmates in Florida Department of Correction facilities. The local bill would provide the Polk County Sheriff and Polk County the ability to better manage inmate healthcare costs by setting limits on reimbursement and providing more predictable expenses related to inmate medical care.
– Lake Wales Business Area: On Aug. 8, 2025, the City of Lake Wales adopted an ordinance creating the “Lake Wales Arts, Culture, and Entertainment District” (District). This District would allow for the issuance of special licenses to qualifying businesses within the designated area to sell alcoholic beverages in open containers for consumption on premises and which can be taken by patrons off premises within the District.
This Delegation meeting is only open to discussion about the local bills. Persons wishing to address the delegation regarding these two local bills may request a place on the agenda by submitting a presentation request form. Please email HD050@FLHouse.gov to receive the presentation request form online link. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025.

Speaking spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and have a speaking timeslot of 3 minutes. To accommodate as many speakers as possible in this meeting’s agenda, groups presenting to the delegation are requested to have one individual speak on behalf of their organization.
