CSX Rail Repairs Closing Ronald Reagan Parkway in NE Polk over Weekend
Published on Mar 17, 2020
Bartow, Fla. (March 17, 2020) — Starting Friday morning before rush-hour, track repairs by CSX Transportation will close their railroad crossing on the east-end of Ronald Reagan Parkway (County Road 54) in the Loughman area of northeast Polk County for the weekend. Traffic between Lee Jackson Highway (County Road 547) and Old Kissimmee Road will be rerouted to bypass the work zone during repairs. CSX plans to reopen the crossing and roadway by noon on Sunday. Depending on destination or direction of travel, traffic will detour along Lee Jackson Highway, Old Lake Wilson Road, Old Kissimmee Road or US Highway 17-92. Travel delays will likely be longer and traffic more congested than usual, particularly on Friday morning. Motorists are advised to drive carefully and to add extra time to trips through the area.
The Polk County Board of County Commissioners and County Manager’s Office regret any disruption caused by CSX’s closure. Due to longstanding statutory agreements, CSX has considerable authority to close roads crossing their railways. Polk County recognizes these repairs are necessary and will make for better and safer driving conditions when completed.
Anyone wanting to report a public road rail crossing issue or complaint should call CSX at 1-800-232-0144 or email them at TellCSX@csx.com.
