Bartow, Fla. (August 26, 2021) — Polk County Utilities will be upgrading water mains on Christina Boulevard in Southwest Lakeland beginning Monday, August 30, 2021. The upgraded water mains will improve system reliability, water quality and water pressure. The project will consist of open cutting the roadway for crossings, pipe bursting of existing water mains, directional drill of new water mains and new service lateral mains.
Motorists should watch for changing traffic patterns and disruption at all intersections along Christina Boulevard. While construction will continue through May 2022, most of the disruptive and changing traffic patterns will be from September 9 through December 20 during the open road cut portion of the project. The remaining portion of construction, while disruptive, will mainly be lane closures to one of the two lanes.
