Polk's Veteran Services Stations Stand Down Event in Lakeland
Published on Oct 29, 2021
Polk County's Veteran Services manned a tent display at a North Lakeland event aimed at benefiting veterans in the community.
The event, Veteran Stand Down, was hosted by the Dream Center in Lakeland and hosted vendors that offered direct services to veterans, their spouses and widows, along with referals for medical care, dental, housing and employment.
Polk County’s Veteran Services is here to help current, former and future service members wade through the intricate and sometimes complicated process of obtaining military benefits.
Many of Polk’s nearly 60,000 veterans can take advantage of this free service, which can include providing information about compensation, education, training, home loans, life insurance, military pensions, survivor benefits, vocational rehabilitation and burial benefits.
If you know a veteran who needs help getting the benefits they deserve, have them contact Polk County Veteran Services or check out the county's website for more information: Veteran Services.
