CSX Railroad Upgrades to Slow Mulberry-Bartow Area Traffic Next Week
Published on Jan 14, 2022
Bartow, Fla. (January 14, 2022) — Rail crossing upgrades by CSX Transportation will slow traffic with several road closures scheduled for the Mulberry and Bartow areas starting Monday, January 17. These progressive closures will last three to five days at each of the listed locations in order of the scheduled work. Short detours will be in effect for most crossings and minor travel delays are expected. Commuters should drive carefully and be alert to signs redirecting traffic. Extra time should be added to trips along Bonnie Mine Road, since the detour route will be lengthy with traffic rerouted along County Road 640E (Pinecrest Road) and Agricola Road to bypass closure at the rail crossing.

The Polk County Board of County Commissioners and County Manager’s Office regret the disruption motorists can expect from this round of road closures by CSX. However, due to longstanding statutory entitlements, CSX has considerable authority to close roads crossing their railway lines. Polk County recognizes these repairs are necessary and will make for better and safer driving conditions when completed.
Anyone wanting to report a public road rail crossing issue or complaint should call CSX at 1-800-232-0144 or email them at TellCSX@csx.com.
