Longtime County Employee to Lead Fleet Management Division

Bartow, Fla. (May 21, 2024) – Michael Chase, who has served Polk County as the Fleet Operations Manager for the past 12 years, has been confirmed by the Board as the Polk County Fleet Management Director, effective May 21, 2024. Prior to his time with Polk County, Chase spent approximately 25 years in the private sector in positions of technician, foreman, team leader and manager.

Chase is a United States Army National Guard veteran. He served from 1981 to 2002, and he served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. During his enlistment, he held positions of Maintenance Support Team Sergeant, Quality Inspection Sergeant, and Wheel/Track Vehicle Mechanic.

“Michael Chase is the perfect person to lead the Fleet Management Division,” said Polk County Deputy Manager Ryan Taylor. “Given his qualifications and experience with Polk County, and beyond, he will be able to hit the ground running. I have complete confidence that Fleet Management will continue to improve and function at a high level on Michael’s leadership.”

Chase’s salary will be $132,170 annually.
