Polk Emergency Management Mitigation Strategy Meeting

Bartow, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2020) — Polk County’s emergency planners are in the process of preparing a five-year update to the county’s Local Mitigation Strategy, which is Polk’s plan on how to avoid or lessen the impacts of various disasters.
The next meeting, which is open to the public, begins at 9 a.m., Feb. 18 at Polk State College Center for Public Safety, Room 269, 1251 Jim Keene Blvd. in Winter Haven.
The five-year update to the LMS will reflect changes in development, progress in local mitigation efforts and changes in priorities that have occurred since the last adoption. Anyone who would like to have a voice in helping reduce the impacts of disasters to the county or want to learn more about mitigation are encouraged to attend.
