Three East Polk Road Projects to Slow Traffic
Published on Apr 17, 2020
Bartow, Fla. (April 17, 2020) — A utility extension, a drainage repair, and a new sidewalk installation will slow or detour traffic along several roads in East Polk starting Monday. Cooley Road in southwest Winter Haven will close between State Road 540 (Winter Lake Road) and Fruitland Park Circle SW for eight days to extend a new sewer line to a manhole centered in the roadway. Traffic will be detoured along Camellia Drive and State Road 540 to bypass work zone. A five-day road closure will take place on West Lake Marion Road just east of the Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resort, while Polk County replaces a faulty stormwater pipe crossing under the pavement. Traffic will detour along Jim Edwards Road, Kokomo Road and Lake Marion Road. Another county project to install new sidewalk along the east side of Rifle Range Road in Wahneta will require frequent closings of the northbound travel lane from Bomber Road to Eagle Lake Loop Road for up to thirty days. Motorists are advised to drive with caution, obey traffic signs and allow extra time for trips through these areas.
