Polk County Fleet Technician Christopher Taylor was recently named the winner of the 2021 Best Young Tech Award by Endeavor Business Media, which publishes Motor Age magazine and Professional Tool & Equipment News.
“This is wonderful news and the award is well-deserved for Chris,” said Robert Biller, Polk’s Fleet Management Director. “Chris works hard, is thorough in his work and sets a great example to others. He is a valued member of our team and is well respected by his coworkers and supervisors.”
Biller nominated Taylor for the award in a three-page application. Taylor was up against other young technicians throughout the country who are 35 years old or younger, moving the service repair industry forward, excel in their current role and are passionate about their work.
As part of the award, Taylor also receives a trip to the SEMA Show (an automotive trade show), a trip to the STX Supplier and Training Expo, $5,000 in Milwaukee tools and an Autel diagnostic scanner.
From bucket trucks to fire engines and pickups, Polk’s Fleet Management Division repairs and maintains more than 2,400 vehicles and equipment owned by the county and its constitutional officers.
While a large part of the division’s responsibilities include maintaining those vehicles, employees of fleet conduct repairs that occur from traffic accidents, theft, vandalism and other mishaps.
