Polk’s Temporary Waste Collection Plan Ends
Published on Jun 13, 2022
Bartow, Fla. (June 13, 2022) — Polk County’s emergency plan for waste collection will end June 30th.
Recycling collection by FCC will resume Friday, July 1, on a weekly basis. All items from household waste, recycling and bulk waste should be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on your regularly scheduled collection day.
Yard waste collection service remains the same and should be placed at the curb on your regularly scheduled garbage day.
Earlier this year, the county reached an agreement with FCC, its contracted waste hauler, to implement an emergency plan for collection services. This temporary change was for customers only serviced by FCC who lived in unincorporated areas west of U.S. 17. There were no changes for households serviced by ADS.
The Polk County emergency plan, which suspended recycling collection service temporarily, has been effective for other local governments across the country that have put service changes in place due to challenges caused by the pandemic. The emergency plan was put into effect on February 28.
Recycling collection resumed on an every-other-week basis on Monday, April 4, and returns on a weekly basis as of July 1st, 2022.
