Published on Aug 3, 2022
Bartow, Fla. (August 3, 2022) — Polk County is keeping the N. Galloway Road and Sleepy Hill Road intersection closed for another month to relocate an underground telecommunications line in the way of the new roundabout construction. The schedule for opening the roundabout to traffic is now September 9, 2022.
Depending on destination, westbound traffic on Sleepy Hill Road will detour north or south at Kathleen Road to bypass work zone, while eastbound traffic approaching intersection will divert northerly along Coogle Road. Northbound traffic along N. Galloway Road will detour at Knights Station Road and southbound traffic will be redirected to Kathleen Road or Mt. Tabor Road to avoid closure. Congestion and delays can be expected, especially during peak-hour traffic. Motorists are advised to travel safely and add drive time to trips through this area.
