PCU Repair to Close SR 540 Eastbound Overnight

Bartow, Fla. (August 9, 2022) — Polk County Utilities has emergency repairs to a force main that will require a road closure overnight, and possibly throughout the day on Wednesday, August 10.
The eastbound lanes of State Road 540 (Winter Lake Road) will be closed overnight from Thornhill Road to Spirit Lake Road to facilitate repairs of a wastewater force main located in the roadway. Eastbound traffic will be detoured south on Thornhill to Spirit Lake Road, then back north on Spirit Lake Road to SR 540.
The two westbound lanes will remain open. Motorists should travel with care, and allow extra travel time, especially with schools open again on Wednesday.
