Bartow, Fla. (August 31, 2023) — Delayed by Hurricane Idalia and coinciding with the opening of South Pipkin Road today, Polk County will close Waring Road Friday, September 1, from Old Medulla Road to West Pipkin Road in southwest Lakeland for 64 days of road improvements related to the West Pipkin Road widening project. Traffic will be briefly detoured along West Pipkin Road and Old Medulla Road to bypass the work zone. Commuters can expect moderate travel delays, particularly during weekday peak traffic hours. Drivers are advised to drive carefully and to add extra time to trips through this area.
