Polk County BoCC Seeks Volunteer to Serve on Sidewalk Advisory Committee

Bartow, Fla. (Aug. 21, 2025) — Polk County Commissioners are looking for a volunteer to serve on the county’s Sidewalk Advisory Committee.

The Sidewalk Advisory Committee generally meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the County Administration Building, located at 330 W. Church St. in Bartow.

Terms for members of the Sidewalk Advisory Committee are for three years, with members eligible to be re-appointed for one additional term. Members appointed by a commissioner must be approved by the board prior to serving.

The 12-member advisory committee assists the Board of County Commissioners in determining the priority of locations for new sidewalks to be built throughout the county. Five members of the committee are appointed by the board, with each board member appointing one member. Five members are county staff selected by the county manager, one member represents the Polk County Public Schools, and the final member is a staff member of the Polk Transportation Planning Organization.
