Bartow, Fla. (Jan. 30, 2025) – Polk County’s Mosaic Peace River Park will be closed on Friday, Jan. 31 following a brush fire that ignited in Polk County. The closure is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of visitors and staff due smoke and potential hot spots.
Mosaic Peace River Park is a popular location for outdoor activities such as hiking and canoeing along the Peace River located at 2200 County Road 640 in Bartow.
The brush fire was reported today at 11:41 a.m. in a field on the west side of the visitor parking area. Polk County Fire Rescue crews and mutual aid provided by the Bartow Fire Department and Florida Forest Service battled the fire. No buildings or structures were damaged.
Due to current conditions, the entire park, including the disc golf area, will be closed Jan. 31 to allow Polk County Fire Rescue crews to closely monitor and treat any hot spots in the area.
The park’s closure will remain in effect until it is deemed safe for visitors to return.
There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
