Bartow, Fla. (Nov. 13, 2025) — Polk County Utilities’ crews are working to restore a water line break in the Posner Park area. Repairs have closed Colonial Way at Ernie Caldwell Boulevard, as well as the westbound lane of Ernie Caldwell Boulevard. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.
The water line was damaged when a semitruck struck a fire hydrant at the intersection of Ernie Caldwell Boulevard and Colonial Way in Davenport. The Polk County Utilities team was able to quickly isolate the break, resulting in no disruption of water service for residents.
Update (Nov. 14, 2025) — The water main has been repaired and as of 10 p.m. Thursday evening the roadway was reopened.
