Bartow, Fla. (August 3, 2017) — County contract repair crews will begin work on Friday, August 4, and continue throughout next week on an aggressive schedule to replace a sanitary manhole on Sandy Ridge Road in the Loughman area of Polk County. Last week, Polk County Utilities discovered that a sanitary manhole located in the roadway near a community park had settled and a replacement structure has been determined as the best solution.
Beginning August 4, and continuing through Sunday, August 13, Sandy Ridge Road will be closed to through traffic. Residents in the area should be aware that on Thursday and Friday, August 10 and 11, a 24-hour work schedule may be needed to replace existing storm drain piping and backfilling in preparation for required road repairs. The road is expected to re-open for through traffic on Sunday, August 13.
Signage will be erected to notify motorists that a portion of Sandy Ridge Road will be closed for several days. Motorists should avoid trying to use Royal Ridge Drive and Sandy Ridge Drive, between Old Lake Wilson Road and Osceola Polk Line Road, as a through street at this time.
