Polk County needs forms from HOAs in gated communities to pick up hurricane debris

Bartow, Fla. (October 5, 2022) —  Debris collection from Hurricane Ian is underway in Polk County. Residents and business owners are encouraged to clean up their storm damage quickly and move debris to the curb for collection. Debris should not be piled in roadways. This will slow the collection process because large tandem trucks will not be able to get into neighborhoods with narrow streets.

AshBritt’s haulers continue to work seven days a week, from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., on their first pass through the county.

Polk County is trying to reach residents who live on private roads or in gated communities to obtain permission to pick up storm debris from the roadside in your neighborhoods. In order to collect debris from residents on private roads and gated communities, designated HOA officers or road owners must sign and return a “RIGHT OF ENTRY AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT FOR DEBRIS REMOVAL” form.

FEMA requires that owners give the county’s contracted debris haulers a right of entry to their roadways for the purpose of removing and clearing hurricane-damaged debris.
