Public Records Request

Home / About / Public Records Request

The Polk County Board of County Commissioners will ensure all county government records are open for inspection and copying by any person. The inspection and copying of records can be done at reasonable times and under reasonable conditions. If there is an exemption that applies to part of a record that requires redaction, the county will provide the statutory citation for the exemption and produce the remainder of such record for inspection and copying.

When the county receives Polk County public records requests, the county will acknowledge all requests promptly and respond to such requests in good faith.

The Records Management Liaison Office will track the submission and response of all public record requests to ensure the county fulfills statutory requirements. However, anyone can make a public records request through any office within the county government. Visit the Florida Statutes and Rules website for more information concerning your statutory rights.

Under Florida law, you are not required to make a public records request in writing, or provide your name and reason for making a request.

If you do not wish to complete the online Public Records Request form, contact the Records Management Liaison Office.

The Records Management section is part of the Information Technology Division and is responsible for providing public records for the departments and divisions within the Polk County Board of County Commissioners.
