Published: November 27, 2023

Bartow, Fla. (Nov. 27, 2023) — On November 21, the Polk County Board of County Commissioners engaged in their annual annual reorganization process, which is how the five-member board elects a new chairperson and vice chairperson each year.

The commissioners nominated and unanimously approved Bill Braswell to succeed George Lindsey as chair for the 2023-24 fiscal year. Braswell had been serving as vice chair. Rick Wilson will serve as the new vice chair.

As chair, Braswell will run the board’s public meetings. The commissioners also adopted a resolution to allow Braswell to sign checks, etc., on behalf of the county.

Lindsey has been a board member for three four-year terms and he has served as chairman of the board three times. He will term out as a county commissioner in November 2024. Braswell thanked Lindsey for his service to Polk County and for helping to guide the county through times of growth and development.
