Hemlock Avenue in Poinciana Closing at Marigold Avenue for 45 Days

Published: March 22, 2024

Bartow, Fla. (March 22, 2024) — Starting Monday, March 25, a Polk County Roads & Drainage Division project will close Hemlock Avenue in Poinciana for 45 days to add dedicated right and left turn lanes along the northbound and southbound roadway approaches to the Marigold Avenue intersection. Other project improvements include new sidewalk, drainage, and resurfacing to prepare the intersection for a new traffic signal, which will be installed soon after by a contractor specializing in signal installations. Turn lane work along Hemlock Avenue will be isolated to one side of the intersection at a time, and access to adjacent businesses will remain open at all times. Marigold Avenue will remain open during construction, except for brief intermittent closures needed to relocate power poles for the pending signal installation.

When work occurs on the north side approach, southbound traffic along Hemlock Avenue traveling toward the Marigold Avenue intersection will be detoured along Flounder Road to Pacific Road to Lake Marion Creek Road to bypass closure. When work occurs on the south side approach, northbound traffic along Hemlock Avenue will detour in reverse to Lake Marion Creek Drive to Pacific Road to Flounder Road to avoid work zone.

Peak-hour traffic delays and backups are expected. Motorists are advised to add extra time to trips in this area. For more details, contact Bill Skelton with the Polk County Roads & Drainage Division at (863) 535-2200.
