Published: September 11, 2024

Bartow, Fla. (Sept. 11, 2024) – In a remarkable demonstration of commitment to employee health and well-being, Polk County has been honored with the Platinum Well Workplace Award from the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) in its inaugural application. The county will be recognized for this outstanding achievement at WELCOA’s annual awards banquet and conference later this year.

WELCOA, an independent national organization with over 4,000 corporate members and a 30-year history, is recognized as the largest workplace wellness organization in the country. Polk County is one of only six organizations nationwide to receive the WELCOA Platinum award. In Florida, only Polk County and the NASCAR corporate organization achieved this distinguished recognition.

The Platinum Well Workplace designation signifies that Polk County has met the highest standards of wellness support and organizational alignment. This award recognizes the county’s leadership and innovation in workplace health promotion, demonstrating exemplary implementation of WELCOA’s seven Benchmarks:

  1. Committed and Aligned Leadership
  2. Collaboration in Support of Wellness
  3. Collecting Meaningful Data to Evolve a Wellness Strategy
  4. Crafting an Operating Plan
  5. Choosing Initiatives that Support the Whole Employee
  6. Cultivating Supportive Health Promoting Environments, Policies, and Practices
  7. Conducting Evaluation, Communicating, Celebrating, and Iterating

Polk County is also a two-time Aetna Platinum Workplace Well-being award winner for 2023 and 2024.
