Bartow, Fla. (Oct. 10, 2024) – Polk County is experiencing Hurricane Milton-related power outages, so drivers should expect power outages on the roads. These outages will affect traffic signals.
It’s best to stay off the roads until Polk County has made them safe again. However, if a driver is on the road and arrives at a traffic signal that has no power, the signal should be treated as a four-way stop. Come to a complete stop and proceed only when it is safe to do so.
Signage may be damaged, as well. Again, it’s best to stay where you are, but if you have to drive, do so with extreme caution.
