Weekend Closing of South Boulevard in Davenport

Published: April 18, 2024

Bartow, Fla. (April 18, 2024) — Starting Saturday morning April 20, underground sewer and water connections for a new Davenport townhome development will close South Boulevard from Orchid Drive to North 10th Street to through-traffic over the weekend. While access will be maintained for local residents, drivers will be unable to make turns onto South Boulevard from North 10th Street due to utility trenches crossing the road just west of the intersection. Traffic will detour along Orchid Drive or North 10th Street north to Davenport Boulevard or south to Patterson Road to bypass work zone. Weekend work was scheduled to avoid conflicts with school traffic to nearby Ridge Community High School. South Boulevard will reopen Sunday evening. A two-day lane closure follows on Monday morning to finish installations by midweek. Commuters can expect minor travel delays and are advised to drive with caution and to add extra drive time to trips through this area.
