Bridge Repairs Closing Deen Still Road West of Moore Road on Tuesday Morning

Published: April 15, 2024

Bartow, Fla. (April 15, 2024) — Starting Tuesday morning April 16, deck repairs required to correct concrete surface damage to both travel lanes on the Deen Still Road Bridge west of Moore Road in rural northwest Polk County could close the span for several weeks. While the restoration will be expedited to reopen the bridge as quickly as possible, the type of deck treatment requires a curing period sufficient to safely resume traffic. Closing Deen Still Road at the bridge is needed for the protection of workers and motorists alike due to the narrow crossing at the Deen Still Drain.

To bypass bridge work zone, eastbound traffic will detour northerly along Rockridge Road to Green Pond Road easterly to State Road 33 with a southbound return to Deen Still Road. Westbound traffic will detour along the route in reverse along northbound State Road 33 to westerly along Green Pond Road, then southerly along Rockridge Road to Deen Still Road. Moore Road can also be used as alternate route for westbound traffic. Depending on travel direction or destination, detour will be lengthy and driving delays are expected. Turnarounds at the work zone will be difficult and dangerous. Commuters and commercial haulers should avoid the area, drive with caution, follow detour signs, and add extra time to trips along bypass routes.
