Bartow, Fla. (March 20, 2024) — Installation of a long-awaited traffic signal at the intersection of Medulla Road and West Pipkin Road in south Lakeland was substantially completed this afternoon and is now operational on all approaches. Medulla Road leads northerly from West Pipkin Road to the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus and Central Florida Aerospace Academy, and accesses the large-scale Riverstone subdivision south of the intersection. Signal was installed by the Riverstone developer through a permitting agreement with the City of Lakeland. National supply-chain issues caused significant delays in the manufacture and delivery of specialty components needed for the timing and sequencing of traffic lights. The new signal will improve safety at the busy intersection and arrives just in time for the SUN ‘n FUN Expo taking place April 9 through April 14.
