Two New Road Closures will Briefly Detour Traffic Starting Monday

Published: October 27, 2023

Bartow, Fla. (Oct. 27, 2023) — Starting Monday, October 30, new utility improvements will close two Polk County roads, one in Auburndale and another in Eagle Lake.

A dual culvert replacement project in the K-Ville area of Auburndale will close Carter Street at the intersection with Craig Road on Monday, October 30, for thirty days. Aging drainage pipes will be upgraded with new reinforced concrete pipes. Work requires excavating the intersection and restoring roadway after pipe replacement. Traffic will be briefly detoured along Roberts Avenue or Owens Road to Taylor Street to avoid work zone. Travel delays are not expected in this generally rural area.

Cooley Road just south of the intersection at State Road 540 in Eagle Lake will also close on Monday, October 30, for a week of drainage and sewer installations servicing a new commercial business. Closure will be bypassed along State Road 540 to Eagle Lake Road to Cooley Road, as well as along North Eagle Road to West Assembly Street back to Cooley Road. While detour routes are short, delays are possible during peak-hour drivetimes.
